BMW M3

The BMW M3 combines the performance of a supercar and the practicality of a saloon. In 2010 the M3 completed 25 years since it first hit the scene and the car has evolved as a yardstick that the rest of the cars in the segment are measured against. To perfect the M3, BMW sent the car through innumerable trials on the tracks and trails of the motor sport world. It was success in motorsports that made BMW add the prefix M to the name of the 3-Series. The current M3 variant sports a V8 engine for the first time in M3 history. In India the price for the BMW M3 sports coupe starts from Rs.76,41,238 (ex-showroom New Delhi) and it competes against the Audi RS5 and Mercedes C63 A
The M3 coupe is equipped with a V8 petrol engine which produces 420PS@8300rpm and 400Nm @3900rpm of torque. 100kmph is reached in 4.8 seconds which is in fact slower than the 4.6 seconds taken by the Audi RS5. The top speed is electronically limited to 250kmph and power is transmitted to the rear wheels by either a six-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic DCT gearbox. The engine is refined and provides the M3 with outstanding acceleration. The torque is very usable and the engine is versatile. While driving around town the motor is quiet and smooth. Its versatile nature also allows you to cruise easily around town and on the highway.
Power delivery is linear and remains so until it reaches the 8300rpm redline. The manual gearbox does an almost perfect job to use the engine’s power despite the slightly long gear ratios. The M3’s double-clutch transmission, introduced in 2011 is better suited for city driving than the manual one. The gears can be also selected by the paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel.
The BMW M3 is one of the best sports coupes in the world. The M3 has premium interiors, is packed with features and the engine offers a monstrous amount of power available across the range. The M coupe’s biggest strength is its handling which still remains the best in the business. The BMW M3 is also offers a great balance between a car that you can drive gently around town and when you want it can turn into a beast waiting to burn some rubber on the race track.
